A word from your Chaplain:
This devotion is from Mark 16:7 “But go, tell His disciples and Peter, He is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see Him, just as He told you.”
This event is immediately following our Lord’s Resurrection. And as you may recall, Peter, who was one of Jesus’s closest disciples, had denied even knowing Jesus the night He was arrested. Earlier that night, Peter had boldly proclaimed his loyalty to Jesus even if it cost him his own life. Then when the moment came, he denied Christ. He failed! I cannot imagine Peter’s pain knowing what he had just done.
But Jesus, immediately following His Resurrection, sought out Peter by name to restore him. Our Lord is the God of the 2nd , 3rd, 10th, 100th…..chances. No matter how badly or how often we fail, He restores us. The thief on the cross next to Jesus confessed that he deserved to die for the crimes he had committed. Yet Jesus restored him on the spot and promised him he would be with Jesus in Paradise!!
So my friends, please know, please be assured, that no matter how many times we fail, we have this promise from 1 John 1:9:
“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
And there is no limit to this promise….God is the God of unlimited second chances.
I am so glad of that!!!!
Let us thank God, that He is always ready to restore us into fellowship with Himself and to forgive us from all our sins. Every one of them!!!
Be blessed in this promise as you call upon Him daily,
May the Lord Richly Bless You,
Your Chaplain,
Bill McCorquodale,
