Devotional

A word from your Chaplain:

Fran McVey: Past President of the United Veterans Council of Santa Clara County

It is my deepest honor to say a few words about my friend Fran McVey. Fran passed away on November 22, 2022.

Fran was a dear friend and a true American Hero who served His Country, his family, and the veterans community.

Fran sacrificed much for his Country and his community. Yet I never heard him complain. Instead, Fran encouraged others by his life, his words and his actions.

As Fran’s Pastor and his friend, I want to take a few moments and talk about Fran’s new home:

Heaven.

I know Fran would want us to all know that he is with his Lord,  and has arrived safely in Heaven.

I think Fran would want us to reflect and be comforted by this fact at this time.

In the Gospel of John 14 Jesus gives us an amazing insight into heaven:

“Do not let your heart be troubled;

In My Father’s house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you. If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also.

And you know the way where I am going.”

Thomas said to Him, “Lord, we do not know where You are going, how do we know the way?”

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; No one comes to the Father but through Me.

Jesus is saying, “Pay attention to Me!!” Pay attention to what I am saying!!” Pay attention to the miraculous works I have been doing”

I am the Way , the Truth and the Life” don’t miss Me!!!”  Because no one comes to the Father but through Me.

No one!!

If there was another way, Jesus would not have needed to come, He would not have needed to die on the Cross for our

sins… Yours, mine, Fran’s.

But He did!!!

Jesus brought us the message of God’s Love, God’s Mercy  and His Grace….

Fran knew that message,  He believed what Jesus said. Fran put his faith in Jesus.

In Eph 2:8,9 The Bible records these amazing Words: For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,  not of works, lest anyone should boast.

Salvation is The Gift of God….we cannot earn it, we can only receive it. Jesus bought it for us….

Fran received that gift!

I pray that if you have never trusted Christ Jesus as your Lord and Savior, as Fran had, and received the Gift of eternal life, as he had, that you will do it today.

For when we put our faith and trust in Christ Jesus,  then we can be assured that He will prepare a dwelling place in His Father’s House for you too.

May the Lord Richly Bless You,
Your Chaplain,
Bill McCorquodale,
